Spa Included in eight round 2016 BRDC F4 Calendar

1 Mins read

With the 2015 Autumn Trophy coming up, the British Racing Drivers Club have announced the Calendar to the new BRDC F4 season and like last season the bulk of the rounds support British GT, with Snetterton playing host to the solo round.

Snetterton’s solo round will start the 2016 season and the one-off round at Brands Hatch that ended last season has also been dropped. This sees a calendar that remains at eight rounds and travels across the United Kingdom.

The biggest change in the 2016 calendar is the introduction of the Spa-Francorchamps round. While last year, the series chose to stay exclusively in England, F4 has decided to follow British GT for its fly away event, a move that reflects the old British F3 Series.

Jonathan Palmer, the MSV Chief Executive, said: “Our 2016 BRDC F4 calendar is by far our strongest yet, again with 24 races over 8 superb events. I am delighted that our successful partnership with British GT will continue and expand to seven co-headlining events, including the Spa-Francorchamps for the championship’s first overseas round.”

With our new and considerably faster Tatuus-Cosworth car, BRDC F4 looks set to become a vastly more affordable successor to British F3 and will perfectly complement SRO’s excellent British GT championship to form an even more enticing package in 2016.”

The season will start at Snetterton on the 27/28 March and will end on the 10/11 September as a support round to the British GT finale, at Donington Park. By doing so, F4 should now receive more attention than it did last season after an under covered final round.

As for the Autumn Trophy, this remains the same as this season, however; will occur earlier in the year. While the first round is on the 7 November this year, it will be almost a month earlier for 2016, when it begins on the 15 October.
