Irish Champion Dempsey Enters Ginetta Junior Winter Series

1 Mins read

2015 Ginetta Junior Ireland champion Jordan Dempsey will make his Kick Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship debut this weekend during the Winter Series at Snetterton.

Dempsey wrapped up the Irish championship with a pair of race wins in the season finale at Mondello Park recently, with entry into the Winter Series coming as part of his prize for winning the title.

The outing will mark his first opportunity to compete in the Ginetta G40J model as raced in the BTCC-support series, with the Irish championship utilising the older G20 Coupe’s, as well as his first outing around the Snetterton 300 circuit.

“This is a great opportunity to go to the UK and join such a competitive field where I can learn some more race craft,” said Dempsey.

“The G40 looks cool and I can’t wait to try the sequential gearbox, and it will also be great to learn the Snetterton 300 circuit. I’ve looked at a couple of videos on YouTube and it looks really fast, which is a type of circuit I prefer.

“Thanks to Lawrence Tomlinson and Ashley Gallagher in Ginetta Cars for this great opportunity and of course thanks also to the people behind the Ginetta Junior Ireland Championship for arranging this award.”

The meeting comes at an important time for Dempsey, as he begins his week with an interview for the Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year award, an accolade previously won by BTCC race-winner Aron Smith and former Ginetta Junior front-runner Niall Murray.
