1 Mins read

Fresh from wrapping up the 2015 Ginetta Junior Winter Series title last weekend, Stuart Middleton and Douglas Motorsport have confirmed they will continue their partnership for the 2016 Kick Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship.

Middleton entered the 2015 campaign as the reigning Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner, impressing throughout with a pole position at Thruxton and three outright podium finishes as he finished seventh overall in the standings as the Rookie Cup vice-champion.

The 16 year old went on to dominate the field in the Winter Series, excelling in wet conditions at Snetterton to win the opening three races and secure the title with a race to spare.

“I’m happy to have my plans in place so early,” said Middleton. “I learnt a lot in my first season last year and I think last weekend showed that both Douglas Motorsport and I will be a force to be reckoned with in 2016.”

Douglas Motorsport returned to the series this season after a year away, having previously guided Keith Donegan to second overall in 2013, as well as Niall Murray and Andrew Watson to top five points finishes the year prior.

“I’m delighted that Stuart is staying with us for 2016,” added team principal Wayne Douglas. “He was hugely impressive in his debut season as witnessed by his dominant performance at the Winter Series. He is ready to win the title in 2016 and so are we.”

Reigning champions HHC Motorsport have also confirmed their 2016 line-up meanwhile, retaining their trio of drivers from the Winter Series; Lewis Brown, Will Tregurtha and Charlie Fagg.

Brown will be entering his third Junior season, having finished third overall this year with R&J Motorsport, while Tregurtha enjoyed a strong maiden campaign with RCE and Fagg made a positive impression after joining the series for the final six meetings with HHC.
