Bird Signs With TCR For Maiden Ginetta Junior Campaign

1 Mins read

Karting champion Max Bird will embark on his first season of car racing in 2016 with a campaign in the Ginetta Junior Championship with Total Control Racing.

The 15 year old was a finalist in the Ginetta Junior Scholarship contest in October, before making his car-racing debut in the Winter Series last month.

Bird impressed at Snetterton, securing three top ten finishes in four races including a Rookie class win in sixth overall with Xentek Motorsport.

“I’m really pleased to be joining TCR,” said Bird. “It’s a great opportunity and I’m sure the team will provide me with a car in which I can try to win races.

“Lee [Brookes] and his guys have been successful in everything they’ve done, so it’s fantastic to be able to be part of a team like that for my first full season in cars.”

Bird is Total Control Racing’s second confirmed driver for the 2016 Junior series, teaming up with front-runner Dave Wooder as part of the team’s expected four car entry.

“It’s great to have Max joining us for next season and we’re obviously delighted to have two of our drivers for Juniors confirmed already,” commented TCR boss Lee Brookes.

“Max originally tested with us 12 months back, so we’ve known him a while, and we’re confident he can be a strong contender in his first year. He performed well in the Winter Series so there’s a lot to build on there.”
