Leading British Touring Car Championship outfit Ciceley Motorsport have confirmed Ollie Pidgley as their first signing for the 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup.
Both team and driver will be making their Clio Cup debuts next season, with Pidgley joining the series with experience in the BARC-run Michelin Clio Cup Series.
The 18 year old, who is managed by former Clio Cup champion Danny Buxton, has experience of the TOCA package as well having race in MSA Formula last year.
Pidgley got his first taste of the Ciceley fourth-generation Clio at Donington Park yesterday, as he and 2014 series champion Mike Bushell took turns shaking down the new car.
“There will be an expectation because it’s Ciceley, but that will come from outside,” said Pidgley.
“I don’t see it as a pressure, but I know I need to deliver. They will want top results. Above all it’s just very exciting to be a part of Ciceley’s first season in the UK Clio Cup and they are making sure it is linked very strongly with their BTCC operation at race events.”
Ciceley Team Principal Russell Morgan commented: “We’re very happy to welcome Ollie into the Ciceley fold as part of our exciting UK Clio Cup programme and have been highly impressed with what we’ve seen of him so far. He has a mature head on his young shoulders and is clearly both talented and determined.”
