Renault UK Clio Cup racer Alex Sedgwick is set to take part in his first endurance race in January after signing a deal to compete with Preptech UK in the Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai.
Sedgwick, who made his Clio Cup debut in the final two rounds of the 2015 season, will drive a Renault Clio Cup car at the Dubai Autodrome.
The Preptech team made their 24 Hour race debut in Barcelona earlier this year, running as high as third in class in their third-generation Clio racer.
Sedgwick will share the car with Andy Mollison, Cody Hill and Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke in the competitive A2 Touring Car class.
“Having the chance to drive in the Dubai 24 Hours is a dream come true that I never expected would happen this early in my career,” said Sedgwick.
“I am really looking forward to racing the Preptech Clio and working with the team. Hopefully, we can get on the podium after the team were close in their last race in Barcelona, but were delayed with a mechanical issue.
“The car is the older version of the Renault Clio I raced in the Clio Cup, so it is not all new to me. This car, however, has been developed for endurance races and has a more conventional sequential gearbox compared to the latest Clio.
“I will have a number of opportunities in the week prior to the race and a private test to help me to learn the car and how the team works.”
