Giovinazzi and Prema Powerteam unite in GP2

1 Mins read

Antonio Giovinazzi will step up into the GP2 Series in 2016 after signing a deal to race for Prema Powerteam.

The twenty-two-year-old Italian, runner-up in the 2015 FIA European Formula 3 Championship, will bring the Jagonya Ayam sponsorship across with him to the team, and has become Prema’s first driver for their debut year in the championship following the decision to take over the entry of the Lazarus team this year.

“Finally, I’m in GP2,” revealed Giovinazzi. “Prema’s Team Principal Angelo Rosin welcomed me into his great organisation, offering me a chance I can’t lose.

“I always had the dream to become a professional driver and I always tried to make it happen with everything I’ve got, since I was a baby in the smallest categories of Karting. And now, I feel I’m on the right way to see this dream come true.

“Walking the steps of the single-seater career, I had care to thank people who believed in me by only one way: gaining the best possible results and… in a great number! My greatest desire for the upcoming season? To continue this tradition, of course.

“I know that Prema Powerteam is the best possible choice for a young driver. So, as an absolute beginner in GP2, I’m sure I can count on a team of so great tradition in Motorsport, once again thanks to my sponsor Jagonya Ayam.”
