Twenty-two year-old Colombian driver Tatiana Calderon has joined Arden International and will line up for this year’s GP3 Series alongside the already confirmed Jake Dennis and Jack Aitken.
Having recently been crowned vice-champion of the MRF Series, Calderon is taking the step to GP3 from the European Formula 3 Championship where she has raced for the last three years.
Julian Rouse, General Manager, said: “It’s great to have Tatiana racing with us this season. She participated in the GP3 tests in Abu Dhabi and seemed to adapt to the GP3 car really well and set some very competitive lap times on performance runs and coming off the back of a strong run to 2nd place in the MRF series over the winter I’m sure her confidence will be high and it will be good to try and keep that momentum going.”
In addition, Calderon will certainly make her mark on the team by being the first female to race in the Arden colours in their nineteen-year history.
Calderon commented: “I’m really excited to be joining Arden for the 2016 GP3 championship! It’s another step forward in my career.
“I know it’s going to be a challenging first year in the series but I know I’m in the right place surrounded by the right people to learn and make the most out of this amazing opportunity.
“Arden has been very successful in GP3; they know what it takes to be fighting up the front so I can’t wait to start working with them towards that goal.”
