Clio Ace Files Joins German TCR Series For 2016

1 Mins read

Former British and European Clio Cup champion Josh Files has announced he will race in the new-for-2016 ADAC TCR Germany touring car championship this season.

The 25 year old will race an Opel Astra TCR for the Italian Target Competition squad, who won the teams and drivers titles in the TCR International Series last season.

Files made his TCR category debut in the 2015 International Series season finale at Macau, taking a thirteenth place finish in the opening race of the meeting.

That came at the end of a season in which Files finished third overall in the Italian Clio Cup, having won the UK and Eurocup series in 2013 with Team Pyro.

Files, who joins Austrian driver Jurgen Scharl in Target Competition’s 2016 line-up, confirmed the news on Twitter:

The ADAC TCR Germany series will visit Oschersleben, Sachsenring, Nurburgring and Hockenheimring through the year, alongside trips abroad to the Red Bull Ring and Zandvoort.

The series, organised and promoted by Engstler Motorsport and ADAC e.V, is one of the first national series to be based on the TCR regulations.
