Davenport Returns With Reflex Racing For 2016 GT5 Challenge

1 Mins read

Mark Davenport has announced his plans to contest a full season in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge this year with Reflex Racing.

Davenport previously contested a handful of Challenge races in 2012 and 2013 with Reflex, tackling Donington Park, Brands Hatch and Spa-Francorchamps.

The 48 year old raced alongside his son Luke then, who has since gone on to become a race-winner in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup and currently competes in British GT.

Davenport Snr will contest the full seven weekend Challenge calendar this year and is hoping to pick up a trophy or two through the season.

“I am thrilled to be returning to the Ginetta GT5 Challenge paddock for a full season with Reflex Racing,” he said.

“I’ve always enjoyed being a part of the Ginetta family, both as a competitor and supporter of Luke in the GT5 Challenge, GT4 SuperCup and most recently, British GT. It’s going to be another great year and I’m counting down the days to the first weekend!”

The bulk of Davenport’s racing experience came in the mid-1990’s with four years competing in Triumph TR6’s, before adding some historic single-seater racing and vintage rallying since alongside his Ginetta outings.

Reflex Racing boss Derek Holden added: “I am very happy to renew my partnership with the Davenport family and thank the boss for entrusting me with another one of her precious boys.

“Marks first foray into the world of Ginetta was purely in the interest of fun while letting son Luke hog all the limelight on his way to becoming a pro driver.

“This year my remit is different so we will be working together to get further up the grid with the ultimate goal of winning the AM category in GT5.”
