Billy McConnell has parted company with Anvil Hire Yamaha with immediate effect following a “mutual agreement” between the two parties.

In a statement released by the team they say that the 2014 British Supersport champion has left due to personal reasons.

They did however state that McConnell had left on “good and harmonious terms” despite their only being just over a week remaining until the start of the 2016 MCE British Superbike Championship.

McConnell joined the team over the winter after leaving the Smiths Racing squad which had taken him to the 2014 Supersport title.

The news comes just one day after the official BSB test at Silverstone, where McConnell completed a full program alongside his teammates; James Rispoli and Shaun Winfield.

The team have confirmed that they will continue as a two-man team whilst searching for a suitable replacement for McConnell.

In their statement, the team also said: “Anvil Hire Yamaha would like to put on record our thanks to Billy for all his hard work, and we would like to wish him all the best in the future.”

Rispoli and Winfield will be back out on track at Donington Park tomorrow for the last official test ahead of the new season.
