Karting Star Wood Joins Ginetta Juniors With Elite

1 Mins read

2015 Formula Kart Stars Junior champion Tom Wood is moving into the Ginetta Junior Championship this season with Elite Motorsport.

The 14 year old makes the transition into car-racing following a hugely successful karting career, which was capped off with seven wins in the ten FKS races he contested last year.

Wood, who is backed by his local circuit Donington Park, entered the Ginetta Junior Scholarship in October and successfully reached the final twelve in the sixty driver entry.

An expanded two-car entry from Elite Motorsport this season will see Wood join fellow rookie contender Harry King.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining the Ginetta Junior Championship,” said Wood.

“It’s always been an ambition of mine to compete on the big circuits around the UK. I’ve really enjoyed working with the team so far and can’t wait to go racing.

“It feels great to be stepping up to cars and I’m looking forward to showing what I’m capable of in front of thousands of spectators.”

Elite Motorsport Team Manager Edward Ives commented: “We are really pleased to add Tom to our driver line-up. Testing has gone well and he’s shown a lot of promise, so it should be a strong year for us.”
