Brown Taking “Massive Confidence Boost” From Donington Victory

1 Mins read

Lewis Brown is ready to push for more race victories in the Ginetta Junior Championship after notching a long-awaited maiden success at Donington Park last weekend.

In his third season in the series, the HHC Motorsport ace finally climbed on to the top step of the podium with a lights-to-flag victory in the opening race in Leicestershire.

Following a drop to ninth in race two, Brown was back on the podium in the final encounter, capping off his superb weekend with a great drive through from ninth on the grid to second at the finish.

“This weekend has been a massive confidence boost for me. Getting my first win was brilliant, and then coming through from ninth to second in race three,” Brown told TCF.

“I’ve been waiting two years for the win and it’s always been in the back of my mind, ‘I can do it, I can do it’, so it was a huge relief to get the victory.

“Now I’ve done it, I know that I’ve got the race pace to produce race wins, so now I can push for more through the rest of the season.”

Brown’s victory came following his first ever pole position in qualifying, which he feels is the culmination of a lot of hard work in that area.

“We need to convert our pace into strong qualifying results, as that’s the most important part of the weekend,” he added.

“It decides how your races are going to be, whether you’re battling at the front for victory or having to climb through the order.

“In the past I’ve really struggled with qualifying, but we’ve worked hard on it and I think I’m close to nailing it now with HHC’s fantastic car beneath me.”

Brown and the rest of the Ginetta Junior Championship field will be back in action next at Thruxton over the weekend of May 7th and 8th.
