Mike Bushell posted the fastest time of the day during the official Renault UK Clio Cup pre-event test at Thruxton today (7th April) ahead of next month’s race meeting at the circuit.
The opening session of the day produced the fastest times for nineteen of twenty drivers in action in Hampshire – Luke Kidsley the odd one out – with Bushell leading the way by over six tenths of a second with a best effort of 1m 23.699s.
Lee Pattison finished the day second fastest in his Team Cooksport Clio, the current championship leader having topped the timesheets in the second session of the day on a damp but drying circuit – a track he has previously won at in the Clios in 2010 and 2013.
David Dickenson was a strong third fastest, with team-mate Senna Proctor close behind as Team Pyro set the pace around the high-speed circuit with three drivers within a top four separated by just over a second.
The same amount of time would encompass Proctor down to Daniel Rowbottom in fifteenth, with the top six completed by experienced hands Ant Whorton-Eales and Paul Rivett – the former being the only driver to elect not to run at all in the second session.
Rory Collingbourne was seventh quickest ahead of Ciceley Motorsport pair Max Coates and Dan Zelos, with Anton Spires rounding out the top ten ahead of George Jackson, Ollie Pidgley and Jake Giddings – the latter continuing some testing with his family Finesse Motorsport squad.
