British GT Championship regular Jake Giddings will make a one-off appearance in the Renault UK Clio Cup next month at Thruxton (7/8 May) with his family Finesse Motorsport outfit.
Giddings previously competed in the Clio Cup across 2012 and 2013, finishing in the championship top ten in his second season with five top six finishes to his name.
Stepping up to British GT the following season, Giddings won the GT4 Class title at the first attempt in a Beechdean-AMR Aston Martin V8 Vantage with Ross Wylie.
Giddings kicks off his 2016 British GT campaign this weekend at Brands Hatch, starting his second season alongside Kieran Griffin in a JWB Motorsport Aston Martin.
The 21 year old has got to grips with a fourth-generation Clio recently, testing at the media day at Rockingham and then the official TOCA test at Thruxton last week.
With that running under his belt, Giddings heads to Thruxton hoping to support team-mate Paul Streather as he tries to mount a championship challenge.
“Thruxton’s high-speed lay-out means every driver needs a good tow off their team-mate to qualify well on the grid – Paul’s main rivals in the championship have that luxury, but Paul doesn’t as Finesse so far is a one-car team,” said Giddings.
“He’s on his own so hopefully I can help him get a slipstream when it counts on his fastest qualifying laps. I’ll also be hoping to work with him in a similar way in the two races. I always really enjoyed my team in the UK Clio Cup so it will be great fun to come back.”
