Twenty year old Colombian driver Oscar Tunjo and 22-year-old Slovakian Richard Gonda have announced that they will contest the GP3 Series with Jenzer Motorsport.
Tunjo competed in six GP3 races for Trident Motorsport in 2015, which included winning the Sprint Race at the Red Bull Ring.
Since 2011 Tunjo has spent his racing career in the now defunct Formula Renault 3.5 Series as well as in the 2.0 Eurocup, ALPS and NEC championships, where he established himself with a number of wins and podiums.
Prior to this, the Colombian competed successfully at a national and international level in karting starting in 20o1 and continued through to 2009 before he made his debut in the Formula BMW Pacific Series in 2010 where he finished runner up in the championship.
Andreas Jenzer commented: “With Oscar we have a very experienced and determined driver in the team.
“The goal can only be top results. We are looking forward to starting racing with him.”
Gonda too raced within the WSR program having competed in the RS Trophy, and finished as runner-up in both the Prestige and Endurance classes.
Single seater experience is something that Gonda is not short of, having tested for Formula Renault 3.5 and GP3’s sister championship – the GP2 Series, and having briefly raced in Auto GP.
Gonda’s racing backlog also includes: Formula Acceleration 1, European F3 Open Cup (where he was crowned champion in 2013), FIA F2 (before it folded in 2010) and Formula Renault 2.0.
Tunjo has already had the opportunity to drive the GP3/16 after taking part in the first pre-season test at Estoril.
“The team is happy to have Richard on board. He’s another driver with vast racing experience.” Jenzer added “We are looking forward to a new and interesting season with Akash Nandy, Oscar Tunjo and Richard Gonda!”
The second pre-season test takes place on 7-8th April at Valencia, Spain.
