Zanni confirms FIA Euro RX Super1600 Campaign

1 Mins read

Italian Rallycross driver Mirko Zanni has confirmed he will tackle the full FIA European Super1600 Rallycross Championship in 2016, driving a Mk4 Renault Clio Super1600 car.

The Italian driver’s confirmation was posted on the FIA World Rallycross Championship’s official Facebook page today, where he will drive for the Italian Tedak Racing Team in what looks to be a very competitive season for the class. 33 entries in total have been received for the opening round of the 2016 Euro RX Super1600 championship which takes place at Montalegre in Portugal on April 15-17.

Zanni is very excited to be able to acheive what he calls a dream as he enters the full season this year:

“I’ve always dreamt a full season in the official RX championship, and it has finally arrived,” said Zanni.  “It will be hard for sure, especially as the first races are completely new for me and the Championship’s level is constantly increasing but it doesn’t scare me at all.

“Team Tedak Racing has the fantastic Renault Clio MK4 S1600, revised with the new evolutions of this winter, which I can proudly race with. For the second year we will be the only Italian Team with Italian Driver to participate in the whole championship. When you have such an important program with such a vehicle, it’s almost obligatory to have important targets.

“I want to, at least, reach all the finals and become the first Italian driver in the history of Rallycross to reach the podium. I want to thank Tedak Racing, the sponsor, and Sport Club Maggiora. I just can’t wait to begin the season.”
