Ginetta have opened entries for the 2017 Ginetta Junior Scholarship, which will once again see one aspiring driver win a fully-funded season in the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship.

After taking place at Bedford Autodrome for the last few years, the contest will this year take place at Blyton Park in Lincolnshire from 24th to 26th October in the school half term holidays.

Over sixty teenagers competed in last year’s Scholarship contest, battling it out across driving, media and fitness assessments, with Daniel Harper emerging victorious.

Ginetta Championships Manager Ashley Gallagher said: “The Ginetta Junior Scholarship is the biggest prize in UK motorsport and each year we see some incredible driving talent entering the competition.

“It’s fantastic for Ginetta to be able to offer such a life-changing prize to an aspiring racing driver, and we look forward to meeting this year’s candidates.”

Reigning Scholar Harper currently leads this seasons Ginetta Junior Rookie Class standings, with the Northern Irishman having taken an outright race win at Donington Park last month.

All of the final three from the Scholarship are competing this season, with Harper joined by Seb Priaulx and Harry King, as well as fellow finalists Max Bird, Jordan Collard, Tom Wood and Enzo Fittipaldi.

“We’re only three weekends into this year’s Ginetta Junior Championship and it’s by far been the best race season of my life,” sai[d Harper.

“The whole experience of the Ginetta Junior Scholarship is worthwhile for drivers looking to move into sports car racing, and I really would recommend it to any young racers looking to make that next step.”

Former Scholars include Stuart Middleton, who won the 2015 Junior Winter Series and currently leads this years championship, 2015 British GT4 champion Jamie Chadwick and 2013 Ginetta GT5 Challenge champion Oliver Basey-Fisher.

To participate in the Ginetta Junior Scholarship, competitor dates of birth must fall between 01/01/2001 and 21/03/2003 and they must not have previously competed in a MSA circuit car race.
