Ulrik Linnemann will make his rallycross supercar debut at the first round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Mettet in Belgium next month.
The Dane found victory for the Super1600 category of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Montalegre and feels that it’s only a matter of time before he makes the step to the supercar RX category.
“It feels really nice that my Supercar debut is so close now” said Linnemann, “it’s a big dream for me to have a seat in one of these amazing cars.
“I did a test with the Supercar and Jean-Luc Pailler was really happy after just a few laps. The car was easy to handle, so I was happy too.
“My [Peugeot] 208 and the Supercar only look the same, everything else is different.”
Linnemann, who was nominated for the Danish Motorsport Driver of the year in 2015, understands how competitive European RX is and is aiming to race in Hell later in the year.
“The best drivers in Europe are in Euro RX, so it will be really hard to reach the semi-finals in Belgium.
“But, I really hope I can do it. Somebody once told me ‘if you can dream it – you can do it’, so let’s see.
“Our budget is still really small, but I would love to drive in Norway as well, in front of a lot of the Drive for Life kids.”
