24 Hours of Le Mans

Ollie Bryant looking for victory on Le Mans debut

1 Mins read

Experienced GT racer Ollie Bryant is targeting victory at the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours after he was confirmed behind the wheel of a Team AAI Corvette C7.R.

Racing alongside Pirelli World Challenge legend Johnny O’Connell, who has scored a number of class wins at the French classic, and Mark Patterson, an experience Le Mans competitor, Bryant is hoping they can take the Corvette – supported by ProSpeed Competition – to victory in GTE-Am.

Bryant raced for Ecurie Ecosse alongside Marco Attard in the British GT Championship for a spell during a so far 14 year long racing career which has seen him race a variety of machines in a variety of races.

Indeed, some of that experience will come in handy for the Le Mans charge – Bryant has claimed back-to-back podiums at the equally gruelling Spa 24 Hours in 2014 and 2015 so will be hoping to go one better at La Sarthe.

Bryant said: “I’m delighted to be a part of this fantastic line-up for the Le Mans 24 Hours. I believe we have the car, team and drivers to challenge for GTE-AM honours and I’m very excited to make my Le Mans 24 Hours debut.”

That optimistic feeling was echoed by Team AAI boss Jun-San Chen who has seen his team dominate the Asian Le Mans Series. He said: “It is a great honour to have been invited by the ACO and the selection committee to compete for the second consecutive time in their world renowned competition. We are working with a drivers’ trio for whom we definitely have great podium ambitions in the LM GTE Am category. Mark Patterson, Oliver Bryant and Johnny O’Connell offer up the ideal combination of experience and young talent to score well.”

The 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours takes place on June 18 & 19.
