Caldwell Stars At Snetterton With Top Testing Time

1 Mins read

Olli Caldwell has made a real statement of intent for the second half of the 2016 Ginetta Junior Championship season by topping the timesheets by a considerable margin in official testing at Snetterton today.

The Norfolk venue holds the next rounds of the championship on July 30/31 at the end of the summer break, with Caldwell heading into the meeting with all the momentum after a superb testing performance.

Fresh from taking a fifth place finish in his series debut last time out at Croft, Caldwell set the pace amongst the 21 car field in both the morning and afternoon sessions, with his morning’s best of 2m 17.795s being the fastest of all at the end of the day.

In fact, eleven of the top twelve drivers would set their best times in the morning session, with Seb Perez finishing as Caldwell’s closest contender, albeit over six tenths of a second behind his JHR Developments team-mate.

Three tenths of a second further back was points leader Stuart Middleton, the last driver within a second of the top spot, with the other drivers in the current championship top four, Dave Wooder, Will Tregurtha and Lewis Brown in his pursuit.

Current Rookie Cup leader Daniel Harper ended the day as the second quickest in class in seventh overall ahead of Geri Nicosia, Tom Gamble and Tom Wood, the latter being the only driver in the top ten to set his best time in the afternoon.

Full testing times can be found here.
