Fittipaldi Full Of Confidence Following Maiden Rookie Win

1 Mins read

Enzo Fittipaldi enjoyed his best outing in the Ginetta Junior Championship so far at Croft last weekend, with the Brazilian teenager posting his first Rookie Cup victory.

The Douglas Motorsport ace got his weekend off to an ideal start in qualifying with a season’s best result of tenth overall, finishing up six tenths of a second shy of the top.

Fittipaldi would go on to slip to thirteenth in the opening race, but consistent progress across the next two saw him finished twelfth in race two, before breaking into the top ten in the final race.

After picking his way through some first lap incidents ahead, Fittipaldi settled in sixth position over the first portion of the race, before slipping down to eighth on lap five.

A superb performance saw him maintain the position to the chequered flag for his best overall result so far in the Juniors, as well as his first Rookie class win.

“It was a really good race,” Fittipaldi told TCF. “We got pretty lucky at the start, there were a couple of incidents and I gained some positions from those, but we had strong race pace and it felt really good to be battling around the top six.

“I was struggling to keep up with the front guys a bit, but I’ve learnt a lot from the race for the next rounds. Douglas Motorsport gave me a great car, and I can’t thank them and my sponsors enough.

“It’s given me a lot of confidence for Snetterton next, we’ve tested there a couple of times, and I’ll be looking for some more top ten finishes and Rookie podiums.”
