O’Donovan Returns To Euro RX Competition in Norway

1 Mins read

Ollie O’Donovan will make his return to the FIA European Rallycross Championship this weekend at Hell in Norway with his Tony Bardy Motorsport prepared Team RX Racing Ford Fiesta now updated to FIA World Rallycross specification.

The 2007 British Rallycross Champion has a busy programme this year with a full season of the British Rallycross Championship as well as selected events in Euro RX and World RX as well. He made the decision to miss the first round of this years Euro RX series to allow for the Fiesta to be updated whilst he has campaigned his Mk2 Ford Focus in British RX. This now allows O’Donovan the option to expand his programme as he previously announced to include participating in World RX events.

The London based Irishman has also taken the opportunity to unveil his new livery for the Fiesta, which was chosen after a competition was run earlier this year to give the fans a chance to design a livery for the Team RX Racing Ford Fiesta and to offer a unique experience for the competition winner. O’Donovan explains further:

“We had a lot of entries to the competition, and we had a lot of fun trying to decide which livery to go for. Alex’s design is nice, uncluttered and clean, which fits well with us as a team and The Shannon Group as a brand,” said O’Donovan. “We’re really looking forward to racing in Norway this weekend, Tony (Bardy) has put a huge amount of work into the Fiesta to get it ready in time after we were forced to miss the opening round in Belgium. As usual for me, I haven’t been able to test, but we know the car is good and I have experience of the track in Norway, so that won’t be a problem.”

O’Donovan is well aware of the increased level of competition this year and has set his goals clearly, “We scored a great result in Hell last season, but the competition is probably twice as strong now. Really our first goal has to be to try and qualify for the semi-finals, and then after that, anything can happen. At the same time, the car is going to be away from the workshop for over a month now, so we need to preserve it too. We’re really looking forward to the weekend.”
