Despite having scored all of Jenzer Motorsport‘s points thus far in the 2016 GP3 Series, which includes a podium in Barcelona, Oscar Tunjo will make way for Arjun Maini at Silverstone.
Maini has recently competed in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship with ThreeBond with T-Sport in 2016 after debuting last year with Van Amersfoort Racing, but after a disappointing start to the season, pulled out of the championship ahead of the recent round at the Norisring. Maini will take on this new challenge for just one round but is keeping his options open for the potential to complete in GP3 fully afterwards.
Having started his motorsport career in 2006 in karting Maini spent several years racing in them before making the step up into formula cars in 2013. The Indian driver was very successful in the Asia Cup Series and JK Racing India Series. The eighteen year old made his move to Europe in 2014 where he finished runner up in the BRDC Formula 4 Championship.
This challenge will be a new experience for Maini, not only being in the surroundings of Formula 1 but the GP3 machinery is something that he will have to adapt to very quickly.
The British round of the GP3 Series kicks of on Friday 8 July, with Free Practice at 17:50.
