Pierre Gasly made it two Feature race GP2 Series victories in succession as he led a Prema Racing 1-2 at the Hungaroring on Saturday.

The Frenchman’s win at Silverstone two weeks ago has seemingly opened the floodgates, with Gasly leading home team-mate Antonio Giovinazzi to return to the top of the points standings.

Gasly made the most of his pole position to lead into the first corner, with Giovinazzi following through into second as front row starter Sergey Sirotkin dropped back, although the ART Grand Prix star was able to reclaim the final spot on the podium just around half distance as he passed Norman Nato at turn two.

Raffaele Marciello took a different tyre strategy than the podium finishers to claim fourth, but the Russian Time driver ran out of laps to get any further after starting on the harder compound and switching to the softs during his mandatory pit stop.

Arthur Pic claimed his best finish of the season for Rapax in fifth ahead of ART’s Nobuharu Matsushita, who was in the battle for the podium positions early in the race before dropping to sixth at the chequered flag, much like Nato, who fell from to seventh for Racing Engineering.

Jordan King will start his third consecutive Sprint race from pole position after finishing eighth in the second Racing Engineering entry, however that position looked on course to go to Jimmy Eriksson of Arden International after making the same tyre call as Marciello to jump from twentieth on the grid to be running eighth only for the Swede to retire on the final lap due to a mechanical issue.

Artem Markelov secured ninth for Russian Time, while Mitch Evans claimed the final point for Campos Racing ahead of pre-race championship leader Oliver Rowland.
