Mike Bushell has described his Snetterton weekend as “all going perfectly” so far after securing a pair of Renault UK Clio Cup pole positions by a dominant margin in qualifying.
The 2014 champion was the cream of the crop during the thirty minute session in Norfolk, posting a pair of laps over seven tenths of a second faster than anyone else could achieve.
They make it seven pole positions out of the last eight for the Team Pyro man, though he has only converted one of the previous five into a race victory.
With championship leader Ant Whorton-Eales starting fourth and sixth for the two races, Bushell’s focus is on maximising his advantage to try and gain some crucial points back in the title race.
“Fastest in both test sessions yesterday; fastest by a second today. It’s all going perfectly,” said Bushell.
“We need to take points out of Ant tomorrow for the championship but I’m well aware that qualifying is very different to a race scenario.
“It will be very important to make the most of both poles tomorrow as I expect him to come through.”
