Canadian-Italian driver Devlin DeFrancesco will make his ADAC Formula 4 Championship debut this weekend as he looks to gain further experience throughout Europe. He will join the Mucke Motorsport team for the Zandvoort upcoming weekend.
DeFrancesco, who competes primarily in the F4 British Championship is not averse to the European racing scene. This season, he has also competed with Mucke in the Italian Formula 4 Championship, where he sits fifteenth in the standings after missing one of the four rounds.
By doing so, the Canadian has followed in the footsteps of 2015 MSA Formula champion Lando Norris by competing for Carlin in the UK and Mucke for the Italian and German series. Despite a tough start to the season, DeFrancesco has been on a strong run of results and sits third in the British standings.
Zandvoort will be host to the seventh and penultimate round of the ADAC F4 series, as it supports the Masters of Formula 3 event.
The flyaway Dutch round will be a home round for a few drivers, including returnee Janneau Esmeijer, Leornard Hoogenboom and Job van Uitert. It will also be a home event for the van Amersfoort Racing team, with driver Joey Mawson currently leading the standings.
“My team and I are very proud to be competing at Zandvoort.” said team owner Fritz Van Amersfoort. “I used to race myself in the 1970s, and even though the team is now at home anywhere in Europe, it´s really quite special to be returning to your roots.”
Mawson heads into the weekend with 297 points, 46 ahead of his nearest rival Mick Schumacher. The pair are expected to continue their season long battle after an up and down weekend for both drivers at the Nurburgring.
