Senna Proctor feels his maiden Renault UK Clio Cup race win is “not too far away” as he heads into the final three meetings of the season hoping to work his way into the top five of the championship standings.
Proctor, who races for Team Pyro with support from BTCC squad Team BMR, kicked off the second half of his maiden Clio Cup campaign with a second overall podium finish so far at Snetterton earlier this month.
From third on the grid for the opener, Proctor would fight his way to the same position in a close-fought opening race, before later climbing two positions in the frenetic midfield battling in the second encounter to finish tenth.
Those results have placed Proctor eighth in the standings at present, with the reigning Ginetta Junior vice-champion now hoping to start closing the 66 point gap to the top five, starting later this month at Rockingham.
“After a very disappointing home round at Croft it was nice to bounce back at Snetterton with another outright podium to add to the one we got at Oulton Park,” said Proctor.
“After a tough start to the season it is good to be climbing up the championship table. The top five is now in reach and I will be doing everything I can to keep on climbing up there, with the goal of my first win in the Clio Cup feeling not too far away.”
