Bird To Miss Final Ginetta Junior Weekends

1 Mins read

Rookie class race-winner Max Bird will not be competing in the final two weekends of the 2016 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship.

Bird got his maiden campaign in the series off to an ideal start, taking the class victory in a superb fourth overall in the opening race of the season at Brands Hatch.

The 16 year old would go on to add a double class podium in the following meeting at Donington Park, before returning to the top three last month at Rockingham.

Bird currently lies sixteenth overall in the championship and sixth of the Rookie contenders with a total of five outright top ten finishes to his name.

“2016 has had a few highs and many lows. I will not be competing in the last two rounds of the season,” Bird announced on Twitter.

“I am looking forward to some winter testing and competing in 2017 in a very quick car. I would like to thank TCR, my mechanic and my mum and dad.”
