Will Tregurtha will be crowned the 2016 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Champion today at Silverstone if he finishes ahead of Stuart Middleton in the final race of the weekend.
Fourth and fifth place finishes for the HHC Motorsport ace yesterday, coupled with lowly results of eleventh and eighteenth for Middleton, means that Tregurtha has extended his lead to 84 points.
With a maximum score of 73 points available at the Brands Hatch season finale and with dropped scores taken into consideration, Tregurtha is odds on to seal the crown today.
Middleton will need to outscore his rival by fourteen points to keep the title battle going to the Brands Hatch season finale, which would amount to an eighth place finish if Tregurtha retired.
That will be a tough ask considering their starting positions, with Middleton back in eighteenth position in his Douglas Motorsport G40, while Tregurtha lines up on the front row.
