Silverstone Podium Star King: “It’s Been Another Great Weekend”

1 Mins read

Harry King continued his strong run of recent form in the Ginetta Junior Championship with another pair of outright podium finishes at Silverstone this past weekend.

The 15 year old bounced back from a below-par qualifying performance to be one of the star performers across the penultimate meeting of the season.

From eleventh on the grid in his Elite Motorsport Ginetta G40, King expertly climbed through the pack in race one to take sixth place overall and second on the Rookie podium at the finish.

King moved further forwards in the second encounter, briefly taking the outright lead of the race before emerging from a thrilling race-long battle in third overall and second of the Rookies again.

Race three would feature a repeat performance with another impressive drive to third position and with it a fifth Rookie class victory of the season so far.

Those results have cemented King’s top eight position in the overall standings, whilst also mean he remains in contention for the Rookie Cup title heading into the season finale at Brands Hatch.

“It’s been another great weekend and I’m really pleased with how it’s gone. Morale was high after Rockingham and from the moment we hit the track here in testing, we were right on the pace,” said King.

“It was unfortunate that the mixed conditions on track in qualifying worked against us, but we came back well in the races to pick up three strong results.

“The car has been faultless all weekend and the team has done a fantastic job with it once again. I felt able to push hard and race my way forwards.

“It also means another great weekend in terms of points and I can’t wait to get to Brands Hatch for the season finale.”
