Streather: “We Definitely Want To Be Back On The Podium”

1 Mins read

Paul Streather heads to Brands Hatch this weekend focused on trying to bring his season to a close with a return to the Renault UK Clio Cup podium.

The Kent circuit has been a happy hunting ground in the past for the Finesse Motorsport ace, with his two previous visits producing his two career Clio Cup podium finishes to date.

Streather made his series debut in the corresponding meeting around the Grand Prix circuit twelve months ago and sensationally secured a second place finish behind champion Ash Sutton.

Six months on and the 27 year old would go one better around the Indy layout as he kicked off the 2016 campaign with a victory in only his third career Clio Cup race.

That has proved to be his only visit to the rostrum this season though, with an up and down campaign featuring a half dozen top six finishes in the fifteen races since.

Streather enjoyed a return to form of sorts at Silverstone last time out though, as he bounced back from a huge testing accident to climb from the back of the grid to a pair of top ten finishes.

On his way to those results Streather set the fastest racing lap of the weekend, and it’s that pace which is putting him in confident mood heading back to Brands Hatch.

“We definitely want to be back on the podium before the end of the season,” said Streather.

“Our pace at Silverstone, fastest lap in race two, proved we can be right up there if everything goes to plan and we’ve obviously done well at Brands on the GP track and the Indy Circuit so I’m looking forward to being back there.

“Everyone did an incredible job to get me out in the spare car after the accident and it was a good feeling to be able to come through from the back like we did in both races. I want to go out like we started the season at Brands – up on the podium.”
