King Caps Off Maiden Junior Campaign With Double Rookie Win

1 Mins read

Harry King ended his impressive maiden Ginetta Junior Championship campaign with a superb pair of Rookie Cup victories in the final rounds of the season at Brands Hatch.

The 15 year old was battling at the front of the field from the off in Kent, qualifying his Elite Motorsport Ginetta G50 third on the grid in qualifying.

A battling performance produced a fourth place finish in the opening race, ensuring he headed into the live televised season finale still in contention for the Rookie title.

King would save the best for last with a superb drive in the finale, battling in the top three throughout and even taking the race lead briefly at mid-distance.

The Holyport-based racer would take the flag in second overall, his fifth outright podium and seventh Rookie class win of the season.

“It’s been another great weekend to end the year and two rookie wins is a fantastic way to bring the curtain down on my season,” he said.

“As has been the case all season, the team has given me a car that has been absolutely faultless and we have shown our pace with two strong performances at the front of the field.

“Overall, I’m really pleased with the way that my first season in the championship has gone, Although we had our low points, we’ve got stronger and stronger as the year has gone on and I think we have ended it as one of the teams to beat.

“There’s no doubt that I want to come back again next year and fight for the championship, which is certainly something we could achieve.”
