Morgan Seals Top Four Finish In SEAT Leon Eurocup

1 Mins read

Former Renault UK Clio Cup vice-champion Alex Morgan has clinched a fourth place championship finish in the SEAT Leon Eurocup following an action-packed season finale at Circuit de Catalunya.

The Welshman has brought his second season in the Eurocup to a close with a second consecutive top five points finish courtesy of six podium finishes across the campaign.

The Wolf Power Racing ace secured his first rostrum of the year on home tarmac at Silverstone, before adding further third place finishes at Paul Ricard, Mugello and a double at the Red Bull Ring.

Morgan’s best result of the season came with a second place finish at the Nurburgring last month, though he would narrowly miss out on a first win of the season during the Barcelona finale this past weekend.

After nursing a damaged SEAT home in fifth during the opening race following first lap contact, Morgan would produce a star performance in the final reverse grid race of the year.

An excellent launch would see him climb from sixth on the grid to second, before producing a race-long challenge on leader David Cebrian, with their battle going down to the final lap.

Making his move around the outside into turn one, Morgan almost made it stick before receiving contact from his rival, with subsequent suspension damage dropping him to sixth.

“The season has been a success all in all. I’ve been on the receiving end of some bad luck, but that’s racing, we’ve still come away with six podiums and fourth in the championship,” said Morgan.

“Wolf Power Racing have been tremendous throughout and I’ve enjoyed every minute of being a driver for them. I am not sure what is possible for next season, but I’ll be working hard over the winter in preparation for a future drive.”
