After making large strides towards the end of the 2016 season, Richardson Racing have announced that they will continue with Bradford-based racer, Alex Toth-Jones for the 2017 Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

Toth-Jones made his racing debut with the team last season, collecting a few top ten finishes and collecting 127 points on his way to fourteenth in the standings. With a years experience under his belt, he’ll be expected to become a regular challenger at the sharp end of the grid.

“I’m really pleased to be able to confirm a deal to continue with Richardson Racing for 2017,” Toth-Jones said. “Obviously the deal last year came together quite late which meant we weren’t able to compete from the opening rounds of the season, so it’s great that we’ve been able to get everything sorted nice and early so we can carry out some proper testing ahead of round one.”

The highlight for him came in the final round at Donington Park in which he was in contention for a podium, before finishing fourth, just 0.009 seconds behind Matt Chapman.

“Having learned the ropes last year, I really want to start pushing for regular podium finishes this season and I see no reason why we can’t be fighting for victories to launch a bid for the championship title.”

“The grid is already shaping up to be strong once again, and I’m really excited about the year ahead. Hopefully it’ll be a good one for myself, the team and my sponsors.”

The team boss, Gwyn Richardson was adamant that they’d made the right call to retain Toth-Jones, with the manager confident in his abilities.

“We struck up a good relationship last year and I think that was reflected in the progress he made on track. With the experience he now has, and the testing programme in place, we’re confident that he’ll be challenging towards the sharp end of the grid and will establish himself amongst the championship contenders.”
