Following two seasons in the Renault UK Clio Cup, Rory Collingbourne will make the move to GT racing this year in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia championship.

The 19 year old will upgrade his fourth generation Clio racer to a 620bhp Lamborghini Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo machine run by Leipert Motorsport.

Collingbourne will compete at Sepang in Malaysia, Buriram in Thailand, Japanese circuits Suzuka and Fuji, and Shanghai in China, before a Super Trofeo World Final event at Imola in November.

The Welshman competed with Team Cooksport throughout his Clio Cup spell, taking three top six finishes in his debut campaign including a best result of fourth at Rockingham.

“Very exciting times are ahead. This year is going to be a big challenge, but one I am more than willing to take on!” said Collingbourne.

“Turning professional at 19-years-old isn’t what a lot of people my age achieve, especially racing on the opposite side of the world.

“Racing in the Clio Cup in the UK has taught me all the skills I’m taking to Asia, the close battles and tenths of a second splitting the grid up will prove essential experience for my move to the Lamborghini grid.”
