Reigning BRSCC British Formula Ford 1600 champion Niall Murray will make the transition to endurance GT racing this season after agreeing a deal with TDF.Geva.
Murray will compete in the 24H Touring Car Endurance Series by Creventic in the Dutch squad’s Ginetta G50, marking his return to competing with the Yorkshire manufacturer.
The Irishman contested the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2011 and 2012, before embarking on a Formula Ford career that has seen him win four championships and four trophy events.
Murray’s first event with TDF.Geva will be the Silverstone 24 Hour on April 1/2, the scene of a triumphant Walter Hayes Trophy success last October.
That was the first of a historic double for Murray, who became only the second driver ever to win the Walter Hayes and the Formula Ford Festival in the same season.
“I am really excited about this new venture with TDF.Geva. It will be a very steep learning curve but I have done what I needed to do in Formula Ford so I think it is time to move on to GT/Endurance racing!” he enthused.
“I’m looking forward to Silverstone in just three weeks time where I will be sharing the car with Melroy Heemskerk, Sven Van Laer and Michael Lyons. Their experience will be very valuable for me to get up to speed quickly.”
