Josh Price has become the latest driver to receive backing from top BTCC outfit Team BMR as he competes in the Renault UK Clio Cup this season with leading squad Team Pyro.
Price joined the Clio Cup grid for the first time in the final three rounds of the 2015 campaign, before impressing during his first full campaign last season with Pyro.
The 18 year old stormed into the spotlight with a double podium finish at Thruxton in May, before adding four more top three results across the campaign.
His standout weekend came at the Brands Hatch GP season finale, when after just missing out on the race one win, he stormed to a maiden victory in race two.
Alongside the Team BMR Academy support, Price returns to the grid for a title challenge this season with backing from A-Plan Insurance Services, VSL and RIVCO.
“Towards the end of 2016 I found great form on track, the points began racking up so quickly,” said Price.
“I’ve now improved even more and with the pre-season testing programme proving a great success, I know I will be in the title fight. I just want to get going now!”
Price follows in the footsteps of the likes of 2015 Clio Cup champion Ashley Sutton and now-BTCC racer Senna Proctor in competing in the Clio Cup with BMR backing.
Aron Taylor-Smith, current BTCC racer and BMR Academy director, commented: “Josh’s progression last year was one of the stand out features of the championship, with the guidance of the BMR Academy for 2017, he’s one to watch for the Clio Cup and a BTCC drive in the future.”
