Sebastian Priaulx has secured the early 2017 Ginetta Junior Championship points lead after bringing the season opener at Brands Hatch to a close with a dominant win.

Priaulx would initially suffer from the curse of the Brands pole position, with Tom Gamble storming past into the lead from the outside of the front row.

Gamble’s lead would only last just over a lap though, with a fantastic switchback move into Druids giving Priaulx the advantage from his JHR Developments team-mate.

From there, the reigning Winter Series champion was the clear pace-setter, posting the fastest lap of the race on his way to a dominant 3.7 second victory.

Gamble maintained a comfortable second place throughout to bounce back in style from his race one disappointment, while Daniel Harper came through to complete the podium.

The Douglas Motorsport ace made his progress early as he grabbed third at Clearways on lap one, but he ultimately couldn’t keep pace with the top two and had a comfortable run to third.

A mammoth battle played out for fourth position, with Harry Dyson and Ruben Del Sarte holding the position at different stages, before Harry King came through to take it at the flag.

Connor Grady completed a fifth place double behind, with Round One winner Dyson left to settle for sixth overall, though that was still enough to take the Rookie class win.

Adam Smalley and Del Sarte would complete the Rookie podium, those two sandwiching Tom Wood in the final results – a five second track limits penalty dropping Wood down from sixth.
