Red Bull Global Rallycross has announced changes to their race format ahead of the upcoming season.

Supercars events will now feature three rounds of points-paying heats before the semi finals, which will have their grids set by the points scored in those heats, with first place lining up first in semi final A, and second place lining up first in semi final B – with that continuing down the field. Points will be awarded in the semi finals with 10 going to the winner and 9-8-7-6-5 going to the remaining drivers.

The top four drivers from each six-lap semi final will advance to the 10 car, 10 lap final, with two more joining them from a Last Chance Qualifier.

As with previous years the overall event winner will claim 50 points, with second place taking 45 and all subsequent finishers points at three-point intervals.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been willing to adjust and evolve our race format to better serve the needs of our fans,” said Red Bull GRC CEO Colin Dyne. “This year, we’ve devised a new format that will give our fans on site more racing than they’ve ever seen before, and a point system that reflects the increased amount of racing. We’re really looking forward to kicking off this year with our best product yet, and we can’t wait to hear what our fans think!”
