Myles Collins has announced he will miss this weekend’s Renault UK Clio Cup action at Oulton Park due to a shortfall in budget.
Collins is embarking on his maiden Clio campaign this year with Westbourne Motorsport, returning to racing after eighteen months on the sidelines.
The former Ginetta Junior racer has finished all six races so far, securing three top fifteen finishes including a best result of eighth in the Donington Park opener.
The Yorkshireman is hopeful of securing the backing required to return to the grid at his home circuit Croft next month.
“It is with great regret that due to some sponsorship not materialising, I will not be competing this weekend at Oulton Park. This is a real shame as I had some podium finishes here eighteen months ago,” said Collins.
“Finding sponsorship is extremely hard in today’s climate as each round is so expensive, and those who know me, know how hard I work behind the scenes working with current and future sponsors to gather the sufficient funding.
“I am sorry to all my current sponsors which have helped me so much to get me to where I am today, as well as family & friends who planned on having a weekend of racing to come and support me.
“I am now working extremely hard to gather funding for the next round and beyond at my home circuit, Croft. Hopefully this isn’t the end as I know with some more seat time, I can qualify near the front and start pushing for podiums.”
