Marco Melandri and his Aruba.it Ducati team headed to Mugello for an intense one day, private test. Melandri completed 105 laps to test chassis and electronic upgrades, and overall it was a positive day for the team.
He currently sits fourth in the championship, 36 points behind Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes. With the Kawasaki Racing Team completely dominating the field, it is important that Melandri and his team mate Chaz Davies test where possible to give them the edge on Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes.
“It’s been an intense and productive day. We worked a lot on the bike’s geometries. In particular, we focused on two areas: the stability under acceleration while upshifting and the front-end feedback in corner entry.
Until one hour to go, I wasn’t particularly satisfied, then we found positive sensations in the last few runs. I’d have liked to try some more modifications to the electronics, but it’s OK. We gathered important indications to improve our performance in the upcoming races.”
