The race stewards handed out penalties to Dorian Boccolacci and Bruno Baptista following the GP3 Series Feature Race at Silverstone.
Boccolacci had come home in fifth place, but was given a 5 second penalty after it was deemed he caused a collision with Niko Kari which resulted in the Finn losing two places.
This decision means the Frenchman is now classified as P8 promoting: Kari, Arjun Maini and Giuliano Alesi. However, rather controversially it means that Boccolacci will start the Sprint Race from pole position as a direct result of this penalty.
Baptista was found to have broken the rules regarding the virtual safety car, and was handed a drive through penalty because of this.
The DAMS driver was not able to serve this during the race and as a result was converted into a 20 second time penalty to be added to his final race time, dropping the Brazilian from P12 to P15 – this promotes: Marcos Siebert, Steijn Schothorst and Tatiana Calderon.
Sprint Race action gets underway at 8.00 local time, with Boccolacci starting from pole position and will be joined on the front row of the grid by Alesi.
Yesterday’s race winner and championship leader George Russell will start from eighth place.
