George Russell was quickest in GP3 Series practice at the Hungaroring as the young Briton continues his remarkable form of late.
South African Raoul Hyman was second quickest with Nirei Fukuzumi third fastest.
Russell did not lead the session until the chequered flag dropped after setting purple sectors in the first two sectors. The Mercedes Junior made a small mistake at the final corner which cost him time in the final sector.
When the session got underway only Alessio Lorandi did not head straight out on track as the times tumbled quickly as almost the entire grid claimed ownership of the top spot at some point.
The session was halted after Silverstone Sprint Race winner Giuliano Alesi hit a marker board spreading debris across the track and prompting a red flag to clear it up.
Action resumed after eight minutes, Jack Aitken was unable to return to the track and was pushed back into the pits as his team investigated the issue. Over the closing minutes of the session Arjun Maini went quickest with 10 minutes to go with team-mate Lorandi on a charge but ran wide at Turn 11.
Fukuzumi, Russell and Hyman traded fastest laps as the minutes ticked down.
South African, Hyman claimed the quickest time in the tricky middle sector.
It looked as though Hyman had done enough but was not able to deny Russell the top spot.
Behind the leading trio of Russell, Hyman and Fukuzumi came: Niko Kari, Maini, Aitken, Kevin Jörg, Leonardo Pulcini, Tatiana Calderon and Bruno Baptista.
Qualifying takes place at 9.45 local time, followed by the Feature Race at 17.35.
