Former Renault UK Clio Cup runner-up James Colburn will contest his eighth full season in the championship this year with his family Westbourne Motorsport team.
Colburn made his series debut back in 2009 and at the age of 25, already has well over one hundred starts to his name in the series.
The Worthing-based racer’s best campaign came in 2011, when he finished as runner-up to Paul Rivett after heading into the season finale firmly in title contention.
After only contesting six races across 2015 and 2016, the only times he hasn’t every race in a season since his debut, Colburn returned full-time last year.
A trio of podium finishes including his eighth career victory in the series at Oulton Park guided him to sixth in the final championship standings.
“The UK Clio Cup is the only real, established stepping stone into the BTCC, which has always been my dream. I’ve come very close to winning it before and if there is any title to aim for then it’s this one,” said Colburn.
“Preparations over the winter have been very positive; as a team we’re definitely moving up to the next level and creating a really positive image.
“I still have some work to do physically, but mentally I’m feeling very strong. I have set plans for every weekend and I know what I have to do.”
Colburn completes a strong two-car entry from Westbourne alongside James Dorlin, who returns for his second season in the series as a double-winner from 2017.
