Title rivals James Dorlin and Max Coates earned Renault UK Clio Cup pole position for races one and two respectively in a highly competitive Saturday qualifying session at Snetterton.
En route to pole position for race one, Dorlin in his Westbourne Motorsport Clio blitzed the qualifying lap record for the category set by Mike Bushell last year. Disappointment for James last time out at Croft was long left forgotten as he tore around the circuit.
Team Pyro driver Bradley Burns has managed to find the form which helped him qualify well at Donington Park earlier in the season and he will line up an excellent second for the first race of the day on Sunday.
Third and fourth for the first race come the other two main title protagonists of Paul Rivett and Max Coates. If Burns maintains his advantage, this will be the battle to look out for as both of these drivers don’t want to give anything away to each other.
Dan Zelos will line-up fifth ahead of sixth placed Lee Pattison and new drivers Jack Young and Nick Reeve who will be seventh and eighth respectively on the grid for their first senior Clio Cup race.
With race two grid positions being decided by a drivers second fastest time, this honour went to current championship leader Max Coates but he’ll have James Dorlin breathing down his neck in second.
Bradley Burns will start from third on the grid ahead of Lee Pattison in fourth and Dan Zelos in fifth.
An impressive Jack Young will be looking to progress from a competitive sixth on the grid and hopefully keep Daniel Rowbottom and championship veteran Paul Rivett in his mirrors. Rivett will be hoping he doesn’t have too much of a tough task from eighth.
Both race one and two will take place on Sunday. The first taking place at 09:55 and the second at 15:45. Highlights and live action will undoubtedly be shown on ITV4 over the weekend.
