James Hedley earned his first Ginetta Junior pole in qualifying for the opening race of the weekend at Rockingham.

The Elite Motorsport driver put himself on pole with a lap time of 1:38.740 to go 0.110s ahead of Patrick Kibble in second.

The gap from first to second was the biggest inside the top nine, with an improvement of a tenth of a second allowing drivers to jump two or three places up the order.

Luke Browning, who set the early pace, ended the session third fastest, ahead of Finley Green and Ruben del Sarte.

Louis Foster was the only man to improve on his final lap of the session, his 1:39.171 putting him sixth on the grid, ahead of championship leader Adam Smalley.

Greg Johnson, James Taylor, and Tom Emson completed the top 10.
