The 2019 Renault UK Clio Cup calendar sees popular Fife circuit Knockhill make a return to the championship after an absence of four years.

The Clio Cup last visited the Scottish track in 2015 with Ash Hand winning both of the races. For 2016 the Knockhill round was replaced by Snetterton and hasn’t been on the calendar since. However, that’s to change for next season.

Knockhill’s Circuit Managing Director Jillian Shedden is pleased with the return of this series to her circuit,

“We’re delighted that the Renault UK Clio Cup will return to Knockhill with the BTCC in 2019.

“It’s a championship our fans have always enjoyed seeing in action around Knockhill – certainly the twists and turns of our circuit really suit a major one-make saloon car category like the Clio Cup.

“It is also great news to see Renault, one of the world’s biggest motoring brands, bringing its premier motor sport activity in the UK back into Scotland. We can’t wait!”

Also due to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship announcing that a second Thruxton round is to take the place of  Rockingham in 2019, the Clio Cup have decided to miss out the first meeting at the Hampshire circuit in May and instead focus on the August meeting.

Renault Sport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes outlined this decision,

“Another reason for moving away from a spring date at Thruxton creates an ‘early breather’ in the calendar for teams and drivers – importantly this gives them an opportunity to spread their costs further across the season.”

The full 2019 Renault UK Clio Cup calendar looks like this.
