Sacha Fenestraz admitted it was a good feeling to be competitive and secure two podium finishes at Silverstone last weekend, particularly after the bad run of form that saw him score only ten points in the previous nine races.
The Carlin driver took pole position for race one but could only finish second to a determined Daniel Ticktum on Saturday morning, before finishing seventh in race two, and concluded the FIA European Formula 3 Championship weekend at Silverstone with another runners-up spot on Sunday morning.
Fenestraz was happy to find some form but the French-Argentine racer knows there is still work to be done, particularly as it seemed that Motopark had the edge in performance on everyone at Silverstone.
“Pretty good weekend, a solid weekend for us,” said Fenestraz to The Checkered Flag. “When we look back to the last two race weekend’s when we were not even close to the top ten, now we’re here battling for the win is pretty good.
“It feels good to be back, but we still have some work to do. We know that Motopark were a little bit ahead of everyone this weekend, we need to still work a little bit more but it feels [good] to be back.
“Now we’ll see how it goes at Misano, [I’m] looking forward to it.”
Fenestraz feels well-supported by the Renault Sport Formula One Team this season, where he is one of the nominated simulator drivers in 2019 alongside FIA Formula 2 racer Jack Aitken, and he admits his dream is to be racing in Formula 1 in the future.
“It’s helping quite a lot, mostly the simulator days as I am their simulator driver with Jack Aitken,” said Fenestraz. “It does help a little bit, as well to know a little bit more about a F1 car is really nice, and work with the F1 people is just amazing, because my dream is to be there one day.
“It feels good and big support from them.”
