As he aims to reignite his championship hopes, James Dorlin will have nothing to lose as he races in the Renault UK Clio Cup around Silverstone.
Third in the championship and slowly drifting away from the leading pair of Max Coates and Paul Rivett, James and the Westbourne Motorsport squad see anything less than a podium as crucial to the eventual championship.
Despite two points scoring rounds last time out at Rockingham, it seems a long time ago since his impeccable form where he scored five race wins in a row. Despite some bad luck in the rounds after that, James only lies thirty points off of first.
Despite a long break for the Clio Cup drivers due to them missing out on the Knockhill round for the last time until 2019, James kept himself on form when he drove alongside Stuart Graham in the Goodwood Revival piloting a Jaguar MK2.
Despite recent setbacks in the championship, James is still confident that he can be quick in the remaining rounds,
“We’re heading into the final two meetings of the season now, and things are getting really close in the championship fight.
“I’ve absolutely no doubt in my mind that we’ll be able to close the deficit this weekend, but this season is proving impossible to predict.
“I feel I’m in a strong state of mind now, and I’ll be going out to win as many races as possible before the end of the season, rather than worrying about finishing in specific positions to bag points. Let’s see what happens.”
